Open auditions for Italian and European singers

The International Project
Opera Seme is an international project supported by local public and private institutions, with a strong partnership with America. It includes an intensive one-month residential training program, during which musicians and singers collaborate, supported by directors, choreographers and conductors, to stage the operas for the Opera Seme Festival.

Training Program Dates (2026):

• 27 June – 26 July: Training program for American singers.

• 5 July – 26 July: Training program for Italian and European singers.

 

The Opera Seme Festival
The festival offers around 10 public evenings in the month of July in Arezzo, with a rich program of performances ranging from theatre, to music, to dance and opera.

The program for Italian and European singers includes opera rehearsals and daily breathing/movement workshops on weekdays, three masterclasses per week, four individual singing lessons and participation as a singer in at least one masterclass.

Participation in the program includes free access to all performances in the program and the interpretation of a role, on the occasion of Opera Seme Festival 4th Ed. 2026, as well as participation in the concert-performance “Jazz on Broadway”, the final evening of the Festival.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

 
The following documentation must be attached to the application:

• a digital half-length photograph, in .png or .jpg format

• a digital full-length photograph, in .png or .jpg format

• a copy of a valid identity document ... (identity card or passport), in .jpg, .png or .pdf format ·

• your CV, in .jpg, .png or .pdf format

• 2 video recording files of two different opera arias.

  • At least one of the two arias submitted must be in Italian.

  • the two opera arias must be recorded on separate tracks;

  • the maximum total duration of the two arias must not exceed 15 minutes;

  • The candidate must make the video recordings available online, in a web platform of choice (personal web site, social network, web channels such as Youtube, Vimeo, etc. etc.) The links to the videos must be specified in the appropriate spaces on the application form.

 
DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING APPLICATIONS: 25 March 2026

The outcome of the selection will be communicated to all candidates by April, 5th 2026. The communication will be sent exclusively by email to the email address indicated by the candidate on the application form.
No other notification methods are provided.
 

The examining panel will be composed of:

• Gianni Bruschi - Spazio Seme

• Mario Cassi – Baritone

 
Fee: participation costs 950 euro, including dinner on the night of “Jazz on Broadway”. Accommodation and travel expenses are not included.

However, the Opera Seme staff will provide all the necessary details and help with the trip and with the research of convenient accommodations in town. In addition, there is the opportunity to benefit from funding offered by European programmes for individual mobility.

Selected candidates will be offered an opera role with the possibility of a partial or full scholarship.

Seme s.n.c and Seed APS (Spazio Seme) reserve the right to record videos of the masterclasses, rehearsals, and Operas for the promotional purposes without, however, having to pay any fees of any kind to the performers.

A panel will communicate whether candidates are deemed suitable and if the candidate will be awarded a scholarship, which will reduce the overall fee.

Taking part in the audition implies acceptance by the candidates of the panel’s final decision, which is not subject to appeal.
Once the candidate has received the communication, they will have 5 days to confirm their participation.
